BIOGRAPHY

Misuzu KIKUCHI​

Born in Satte, Saitama in 1989, Misuzu Kikuchi began her piano studies at age of three in the Yamaha Music School, and has studied at the Yamaha Master Class from 2000 to 2006.


In 2006, she has been recommended to “Young Pianist Series”, the piano concert series hosted by Hiroko Nakamura, and performed at Sagawa Bunko Music Hall. In the same year, she performed with New Japan Philharmonic (Conductor: Naohiro Totsuka) at Yamaha Gala Concert. 


She has won numerous prizes at both domestic and international competitions since her early age, including 1st prize of Saitama Piano Competition Category A(1997), bronze prize of PTNA Piano Competition(2001) Category D, 1st Prize and Bärenreiter Urtext-Prize of Ettlingen International Competition for Young Pianists A-Category(2002), 5th prize of the European Chopin Piano Competition(2006), 2nd prize of International Chopin Piano Competition in Asia General Category(2007) and 1st prize of the Mozart Preis of Mozarteum(2011).


She has given many concert performances internationally, including Festival Auvers-surOise (France), Piano Recital at Stiftskirche Mattsee(Austria), and the Salzburg Palace Concerts  at Mirabell Palace(Austria).

In 2016, she performed with Niederbayerische Philharmonie (Conductor: Basil H. E. Coleman) at opening concert of Young Classic Europe (Germany).


2012 to 2014, she has won a scholarship of the Yamaha Musik Foundation.


Since 2010 she has studied at Mozarteum University of Salzburg under Andreas Weber.
